The Description
Graphing practice does not have to look like another worksheet. In Code Red: Data Crisis, students join a fictional response team trying to unlock a classified data vault. Their tools? Careful graph reading, interpreting patterns, and making choices supported by evidence.
This science-themed escape-room challenge uses an agent mission packet, multiple data graphs and a staged problem-solving story. The classroom game gives students a reason to revisit axes, trends, relationships and graph-based conclusions.
What Students Will Do
Read a mission briefing and work through graph-based challenges.
Interpret science graphs and explain relationships, trends and patterns in data.
Record answers in the mission packet and work toward unlocking the final vault.
Compare their reasoning with the teacher solutions and reflect on errors.
Why This Resource Is Different
A student can tell you which axis is which and still make the wrong claim about a graph. I wanted graphing practice that makes the interpretation matter. In Code Red, students are agents working through a data crisis: every choice about a pattern or relationship moves the mission along—or sends them back to the evidence.
The story is fun, but the real work is in reading unfamiliar graphs carefully and explaining what the data do and don't support. The teacher walkthrough and separate answer materials make it possible to use the challenge without building an escape room from scratch.
