The Description
Can students do more than recite that Earth is old? This HS-ESS1-6 assessment and review set asks students to work with evidence about how the solar system and early Earth formed, including planetary materials, the Moon, and radioactive dating.
The resource moves from guided practice slides to a matching answer key and additional Regents question excerpts. It is designed for checking conceptual understanding, practicing assessment language, and identifying areas students should revisit.
What Students Will Do
Work through HS-ESS1-6 review and assessment questions about early Earth and the solar system.
Apply evidence about meteorites, planetary materials, the Moon, and radioactive isotopes.
Compare reasoning with the provided teacher answer version.
Practice selected Regents questions using referenced exam documents.
Why This Resource Is Different
Students can repeat that Earth is billions of years old without being able to explain how scientists know. I organized this practice around the actual evidence—meteorites, isotopes, the Moon, and early planetary materials—so students must connect an observation to the history it supports.
The editable student slides and matching key let you stop where reasoning breaks down, not just mark a response wrong. Use the separate early-Earth one-pagers to pull the big ideas together, then return here to check whether students can apply them in assessment language.
