The Description
Recognizing a cold front symbol is one thing. Explaining why the weather might change as it passes is another. This HS-ESS2-8 review game turns weather-map vocabulary and air-mass relationships into moving partner conversations.
Use the air-mass and weather cards in partner Quiz Quiz Switch Switch, self-paced Quiz & Cruise, or guided Carousel rounds.
What Students Will Do
Explain weather patterns and air-mass ideas to partners
check answers
exchange cards and switch classmates. Use the same questions in stations or a teacher-paced Carousel.
Why This Resource Is Different
A student can point to a cold-front symbol and still predict sunshine when the evidence suggests otherwise. Recognizing the map key isn't the same as explaining what the air masses are doing.
These short card exchanges ask students to rehearse the relationships aloud. If a student can name the front but can't explain the change in conditions, that's useful feedback before the next weather-map question. The same cards work in paced or independent station reviews.
