The Description
'Participate more' isn't useful feedback to someone who doesn't know what a productive scientific contribution sounds like. And the loudest student at the table isn't automatically doing the most science.
This system turns scientific talk into something students can learn and practice. Developmental rubrics, sentence starters, and projectable focus slides help students notice, explain, use evidence, and compare or revise an idea during labs and investigations.
What Students Will Do
Practice four talk moves; use sentence stems; strengthen evidence-based group discussions; reflect on the quality of contributions.
Why This Resource Is Different
I wanted to stop grading who talks the most and start noticing who is doing the thinking. A quiet student who asks one excellent evidence question may have done more science than the person who held the floor for five minutes. Different levels of support make that difference teachable.

Three developmental scientific-talk rubrics.
PowerPoint with 12 projectable Science Talk Focus slides.
