The Description
A red star and a blue star aren't just wearing different outfits. Their colors carry information that astronomers can use.
Stars and Their Colors gives students repeated chances to read the language of stellar color, light, and temperature, then connect the words to a scientific explanation. The fluency format helps with the reading demands so students can spend more attention on what the evidence actually tells them.
What Students Will Do
Read and revisit an astronomy passage
connect wavelength, frequency, and radiation to stellar temperature and light
complete a reading check-in.
Why This Resource Is Different
A student can remember that stars come in different colors and still miss the reason color matters to astronomy. Naming the colors is only the start; connecting them to stellar properties is the thinking I want.
The repeated readings and vocabulary work make unfamiliar scientific language less likely to get in the way. This is a bridge into investigating light and stars, not a replacement for the investigation.
