A Better Video Day

Lets talk "Video Day".
Sometimes they are planned, but other times video days just happen. Whether it's because every possible thing has gone wrong and video day is the only way to make it through, or your kid starts puking in the middle of the night (or you do) and you need a quick plan, or maybe the interwebs ate your subplan (from when you we're scrambling at 2:00 AM because of the puking) and you... need... something...
That’s when you want something in your back pocket—enter the 9-Square Menu Video Reflection Sheet.
Here’s the idea: create a reflection sheet with 9 generic questions that can work for almost any video. Students can respond to them in any order, at five-minute intervals, while watching a documentary, movie, or episode.
Say goodbye to hyper-specific questions that kids stress over (and copy from their neighbor when they miss) and hello to thoughtful-ish responses—because let’s be honest, it is movie day after all.
Print 200 copies of your craftily made sheet, stash them in an easy-to-find spot, and you’ve got a ready-to-go protocol for whenever video day strikes.
Don’t want the hassle of making your own? I’ve done it for you—General Science, Social Studies, ELA, Nature Documentaries, Mythbusters, and more! I've also included a discussion protocol that adds rigor—whether video day is intentional or a last-minute save—turning class into a purposeful experience instead of passive screen time!
